Infiniti is a brand that has recently become known to all Romanians! I mean everyone! It’s the Nissan of America, as we are all used to call it!

Just as Acura is the Honda brand for the USA, or just as Lexus is the Toyota for the wealthy Americans. After entering into business decades ago, they transformed in niche luxury brands for famous original producers, such as Honda, Nissan or Toyota all over the world.

But not Toyota, positioning itself along Lexus – from the very beginning – as a premium car brand, and continuing to make history with the Toyota. These are expensive, premium cars, which theoretically compete with Mercedes, Audi and BMW. The problem is that in Europe, the supremacy of German cars is much stronger than the acknowledgment for the reliability and luxury of the Asian cars. Even if, over the last few years, Japanese luxury cars have managed to enter the Romanian market, it is still in relatively small numbers.

Unfortunately for these car brands, buyers still associate them with other Asian brands – Chinese, Korean. Undoubtedly, Hyundai and Kia have increased greatly in terms of quality. To state that it’s best to buy an Opel, Renault, Ford, Citroen or Peugeot instead of a Kia or Hyundai is prejudicial. The performance of the engines, the quality of the materials and of the after-sale services is – we dare to say – at the same level. It may take another small step as for the interior design which still bluntly shows colored lights and buttons specific to Asia.

The Dubai International Auto Show runs between 14 to 18 November and Infiniti is ready to reveal a muscle competitor for the Q7. The Infiniti QX80 is set to prove what Japan has best to offer when talking about cars! From the bits of information gathered on this car, it is hard to see any barriers in the competition with the German carmaker. And we are talking about a battle between two monsters.

Infiniti starts from the Monograph concept when creating the series version of QX80. The SUV prototype was unveiled in April at the 2017 New York International Auto Show. Alfonso Albaisa, Senior Vice President for Global Design for Nissan, is very confident about this car, stating that, considering his position, with its new appearance this car is the new world leader.

From external sources, Infiniti features a 5-litre V8 engine generating 400 horsepower. Now we’re talking about Japanese cars.
