Renault-Nissan Alliance Invests 1 Billion Rand in New Manufacturing Project in South Africa

PARIS/ TOKYO/ JOHANNESBURG, July 18, 2008 -- The Renault-Nissan Alliance has confirmed the launch of a new manufacturing project in South Africa. Nissan’s manufacturing plant at Rosslyn was identified as having the potential to maximize synergies between Renault and Nissan.

Highlights:
* A new Nissan half-ton Pickup NP200 and Renault Sandero are to be produced at Nissan’s Rosslyn plant (Pretoria). Production of the new Nissan half-ton Pickup NP200 has already started in the plant. The production of Renault Sandero will start in 2009.
* This project marks the first time that a Renault vehicle will be produced in South Africa.
* Some 300 jobs will be created in the plant in 2008.

After receiving Automobile Magazine's Trophée de l’Innovation (Trophy for Innovation) in 2007 in recognition of its fourwheel steering chassis, as well as the '2007 Most Beautiful Car of the Year' and '2007 Most Beautiful Interior of the Year' prizes at the Festival Automobile International de Paris earlier in the year, this is the fourth time that Renault Laguna has been picked out for a leading award by automobile industry.

Campaign Has Made 1.2 Million Children Worldwide Aware of Road Safety

June17, 2008 -- Every year since its launch in 2000, the international ‘Safety For All’ campaign has offered primary school teachers the opportunity to make their students aware of road safety thanks to a free teaching kit and a drawing competition.

This year’s campaign reached out to another 1.2 million children worldwide aged between 7 and 11 years through the teaching kit. Eight countries competed in the drawing competition, with nearly 6,000 entries on the theme of ‘Road safety is our business!’

Worldwide Renault Group Sales Results for May 2008

June 13, 2008 -- In May 2008, the Renault group sold 219,801 vehicles (PC + LCVs) worldwide under its three brands. Renault, Dacia and Renault Samsung Motors, up 1.1% compared with 2007. Renault reported a 4.7% increase in worldwide sales, while Dacia and Renault Samsung Motors posted a fall in sales of 21.6% and 9.7% respectively.

Facility to Produce up to 400,000 Passenger Vehicles Annually

CHENNAI, India, June 6, 2008 – Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Limited (RNAIPL) today hosted the ground breaking ceremony for its new passenger vehicle plant in Chennai, India, expected to begin operations in 2010. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 400,000 and will produce vehicles for export and the local market for both Renault and Nissan.

A 50:50 joint venture between Renault and Nissan to manufacture passenger vehicles, RNAIPL represents an investment of a minimum of Rs 4,500 crore (€780 million / U.S. $1.1 billion).

Renault-Nissan Alliance Zeros in on Emission Free Vehicles, Advanced FCV Prototypes

PARIS, May 29, 2008 – A zero-emission motoring future has moved two steps closer thanks to environmental commitments from the Renault-Nissan Alliance.

For the initial step, Renault-Nissan Alliance will mass-market electric vehicles in Israel and Denmark in 2011 as announced at the beginning of this year. Moreover, Nissan has recently announced its plans to start selling electric vehicles in the US and Japan by the end of 2010.

And for the second step, Renault-Nissan Alliance is developing fuel cell-powered electric vehicles. Two prototypes are currently in an advanced engineering phase :

* Nissan’s pioneering X-Trail fuel cell vehicle has been undergoing ‘real-world’ testing for more than two years, with examples leased to government authorities in Japan.

May 16, 2008 -- In April 2008*, the Renault group sold 228,146 vehicles (PC+LCVs) worldwide under its three brands, Renault, Dacia and Renault Samsung Motors, up 8.3% compared with April 2007. Renault reported a 7.5% increase in worldwide sales, Dacia 17.1% Renault Samsung Motors 6.6%.

In Europe1, in an expanding market (+7.8%), Renault group sales totaled 147,322 units in April, up 3.5%. Renault reclaimed its position among Europe's top three brands, taking second place in PC+LCVs sales in April.

Flower Road. Too many flowers can be a bad thing

May 7, 2008 -- The 4.2 class of Saint Aubin en Bray’s College Les Fontainettes in northern France has won the 2008 “Express Yourself!” competition following an exciting final including seven middle school classes from all over France. In all, more than 34,000 students learnt about road safety in France this year.

At Atelier Renault on the Champs-Elysées on May 7, 2008, the seven finalist classes in the “Express Yourself!” competition presented their projects with brio to a jury of communication professionals from the fields of road safety and advertising.

After deliberation, the jury awarded this year’s prize to the 4.2 class of Saint Aubin en Bray’s College Les Fontainettes.
