CEO Davide Grasso says Maserati to electrify entire line-up in next five years
There’s no official announcement, but during an online event, organized by the daily newspaper Milano Finaza, Grasso said that Maserati’s first fully electric vehicle would be an EV variant of its upcoming SUV, the Grecale.
Maserati is the premium brand of of Fiat Chrysler.
Maserati’s new SUV Grecale, to be released next year, will be initially offered both in a combustion-engine and in a hybrid version. However, we could see a fully electric version of the SUV as early as 2022, according to some auto experts. A full-electric version of the Grecale SUV is expected at a later stage.
Following the Grecale, we can expect the Gran Turismo and Gran Cabrio models to be electrified too.
“The new Gran Turismo and Gran Cabrio models will be electrified too, all our line-up will be electrified in the next five years,” Grasso said.
Maserati, huge losses last year
Maserati made an operating loss of 199 million euros (235 million USD) last year. It is expected that Maserati would return to profit from next year.
