Mazda Kai – the new compression-ignition petrol engine is now in place
The Mazda Kai concept, presented at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show draws attention to the design of the next-generation Mazda 3 hatchback, which will be launched in 2019.
The hatchback model introduces the new Skyactiv-X vehicle architecture, specifically developed to accommodate the new compression-ignition petrol engine. According to the company, the new compression-ignition petrol engine offers the efficiency of a diesel engine.
This new architecture also improves driving dynamics, refinement and comfort, reports Mazda.
At 4420 mm in length, 1855 mm in width and 1375 mm in height, this concept is slightly larger than the current Mazda 3. The wheelbase is also 50 mm longer, and the arrangement of the wheels to the corners should increase the interior space.
