Mercedes Vision EQXX, an EV with 1,207 km (750-mile) range

The first official teaser of the Mercedes Vision EQXX made the highlights. And it deserves it.

Mercedes has revealed it is developing a new prototype electric car that is claimed to have the longest electric range and highest efficiency of any battery-powered vehicle ever built.

Its silhouette is barely distinguishable, but this is not the important thing in the first official teaser of the Mercedes Vision EQXX, since what this electric concept really announces is its 1,207 km of autonomy.

From Madrid to Paris, no recharge

In other words, with this car you could go from Madrid to Paris without having to stop to recharge or from Beijing to Shanghai, for example.

The first image of this Mercedes EQXX was projected at a meeting of shareholders of the Daimler group during which the brand’s 2020 strategy was updated.

No technical information or targets have been issued, but a presentation slide teased “Beijing to Shanghai on one charge?” – that implies a range of at least 750 miles (1,207 km) between recharges is being targeted. It is being developed by a team from Stuttgart with the support of the UK’s AMG High Performance Powertrain unit that has experience in developing electric motors for motor racing. The car’s great autonomy will be achieved thanks more to its efficiency than to equipping a gigantic battery.

The most efficient and autonomous electric car the world has ever seen

“We have a group of engineers that take on an extraordinary task: to build the most efficient and autonomous electric car the world has ever seen. The key is the efficiency of the vehicle and the powertrain. This is a serious project , involving next-generation technologies,” said Mercedes head of research and development, Markus Schafer.
