Kia Proceed Concept: A spectacular Shooting brake

Kia Proceed Concept represented the main attraction of the Korean carmaker at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The study, providing beforehand the future Kia hot-hatch, marks the introduction of a new form of bodywork for a sister-brand of Hyundai.

Watching this spectacular concept, we cannot help thinking that Peter Schreyer, the famous design director with the Hyundai and Kia brands, ran wild again. However, the design is signed by Kia’s European Design Centre under the signature of Gregory Guillaume, Europe Design director for Kia Motors.

Kia Proceed Concept introduces a new hot-hatch concept theme, intended to remove the classical motif – three doors hatchback – less appreciated by clients over the past few years. The end result may resemble this last concept presented with the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, which reveals a lot of Kia’s image of next generation Cee’d.

The front reveals a new brand image, inspired by the design of the iconic Stinger model, while the shape of the bodywork matches closely the Hyundai i30 Fastback, which made its debut at Düsseldorf.

With regard to its interior, the design study presented at Frankfurt is rather extreme, which is totally acceptable since we are looking at a concept car. Beyond appearances and the 50’s car-porn image, we can see some rather mature design elements on the next gen Cee’d dashboard.
