Frank Fischer Named Head of New Chattanooga, Tennessee Volkswagen Factory
Hans-Peter Stalf becomes new plant manager in Brunswick
Brunswick / Chattanooga, 19 August 2008 -- Frank Fischer (46) has been appointed head of the project team for the new Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga (USA) with effect from October 1, 2008. He is thus also the designated plant manager of the factory in the US State of Tennessee. His successor as plant manager in Brunswick will be Hans-Peter Stalf (52).
Frank Fischer holds engineering degrees from RWTH Aachen and the University of Washington in Seattle. He joined the Volkswagen Group in 1991, first sharing responsibility for strategic issues and competition comparisons before becoming head of body construction at the Wolfsburg plant and subsequently moving to Emden as production manager in 2001. Frank Fischer has been the plant manager at Brunswick since March 2005.
His successor to this post is Hans-Peter Stalf, head of components planning for the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand and Group components control. Stalf studied mechanical engineering in Wolfenbüttel and joined the Volkswagen Group in 1982. He was responsible for the press shop, components production and the manufacture of light commercial vehicles at the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles plant in Hanover. In 2003 he moved to Volkswagen South Africa as head of production. Two years later he assumed responsibility for Group drivetrain and plant planning in Wolfsburg, before taking charge of components control and planning in March 2006.
