Seoul, July 3 2008 — Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announces that, as one of the key elements of its strategy for the Asian region in fiscal 2008, it is to enter the built-up car sales business in Korea working through its sole distributor in that country MMSK Corporation (see profile below).

Bosch, Samsung SDI Plan Joint Venture to Develop, Manufacture Lithium Ion Batteries
Joint venture planned to start in September 2008 with company to be headquartered in Korea
Stuttgart, June 16, 2008 – Robert Bosch GmbH and the Korean company Samsung SDI Co. Ltd. have decided to set up a joint venture to develop, manufacture, and sell lithium-ion batteries. It is planned that the joint venture, which is to be named "SB LiMotive Co. Ltd." and to be headquartered in Korea, will start operations in September 2008. The shareholding of Robert Bosch GmbH will be 50 percent and that of Samsung SDI Co. Ltd. 50 percent – both companies will be equally represented on the board of management and on the board of directors. The foundation of the joint venture is still subject to approval by antitrust authorities.

Of the 39 car models that made Consumer Reports' latest Most Satisfying car list, 18 toted Japanese nameplates with 10 of those built by Toyota.
BorgWarner Opens New Turbo Facilitiy in Korea
BorgWarner Expects to Produce Nearly 2 Million Turbochargers in Korea within Five Years
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 19 -- Driven by increasing worldwide demand, BorgWarner's majority-owned subsidiary, SeohanWarner Turbo Systems, opened a 52,000-square-foot (4,800-square-meter) facility on the BorgWarner Engine Group campus in Pyongtaek, Korea. The world- class facility includes office, production and warehousing space for a workforce expected to reach 130 within five years.
In addition, the facility will house the first on-site engine and turbocharger testing cells for a turbocharger supplier in Korea. The test facilities will be commissioned later this year and fully operational early next year, further enhancing collaborative relationships with customers.
Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement Would Destroy Jobs in All Provinces and Regions
OTTAWA, Oct. 23 /CNW/ - If the Canadian federal government proceeds with a free trade agreement with Korea as it has promised to do, the impact on Canadian communities would be disastrous, according to a new study.
The study will be released by the Canadian Auto Workers union at the House of Commons Press Gallery this morning.
The study, "Provincial Employment Effects of Canada-Korea Free Trade," finds the job loss would be most acute in Ontario and Quebec, with an expected loss of approximately 17,400 jobs and 8,300 jobs respectively. Even resource rich provinces like Alberta and British Columbia will be set to lose thousands of jobs.
