China’s BYD has just unveiled the Yuan Up, a small electric SUV available at a very attractive price. It is due to arrive in Europe shortly.

With their attractive prices compared to their technical specifications, Chinese electric car brands are gaining ground in Europe. Among the most prominent is BYD. After the Seal U, the brand has just unveiled the Yuan Up. This is a small electric SUV 4.31 metres long, 1.83 metres wide and 1.68 metres high. Already available in China, the vehicle is due to arrive in Europe shortly. This SUV has a formidable advantage: its price. Although it does not benefit from the environmental bonus, its price remains very low for an electric car. At the moment, if you convert the amount into euros, the entry ticket is around 12,600 euros for a power of 70 kW (86 bhp) and the price peaks at 15,500 euros (130 kW, 176 bhp) for the best-equipped model.

Average range

Once marketed on the continent, prices should nevertheless be higher, but they will still be aggressive enough to compete with the future Tesla Model 2. The Yuan Up’s range should be around 300 kilometres for the basic model and 400 kilometres for the most powerful. Recharging from 30% to 80% takes around thirty minutes. Inside, the Yuan Up can seat up to five people. The dashboard features a 12.8-inch touchscreen. Unlike the sleek design of a Tesla, there are several physical buttons, notably on the steering wheel. The dashboard display is an 8.8-inch screen.
