Daihatsu Provides Aid for Earthquake Relief Efforts in Sichuan Province, China

May 20, 2008 -- Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. wishes to express its deepest condolences for those who lost their lives in the earthquake that struck Sichuan Province in China and its concerns for everyone in the devastated area.

Daihatsu Motor decided on May 19 to contribute 300,000 yuan (approx. 4.5 million yen) in aid, via the Japanese Red Cross Society, to assist earthquake relief efforts.

Toyota, Daihatsu and Fuji Heavy Industries Deepen R&D, Product-Supply Ties

Tokyo, April 10, 2008 — Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (Daihatsu) and Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI) announced today that they have agreed to expand their cooperative ties with new arrangements related to research and development and product supply.

Specifically, the three companies — aiming to strengthen their competitiveness by achieving mutual synergies through the apt application of each company's technological know-how — decided that:

1. TMC and FHI are to jointly develop a compact rear-wheel-drive sports car that will be marketed by both TMC and FHI.
2. TMC is to provide FHI with a compact car on an original-equipment-manufacturing (OEM) basis.

Daihatsu Motor Kyushu Completes Construction of Oita Plant No. 2 and Commences Operations

December 19, 2007 -- DAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD. (Daihatsu) announced today that the construction of the Oita (Nakatsu) Plant No. 2 of Daihatsu Motor Kyushu Co., Ltd. (President Akihiro Higashisako), a subsidiary of Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. in Nakatsu, Oita Prefecture, has been completed and that full-scale operations have begun. The ceremony held today to mark the completion of the construction was attended by numerous guests. A plant tour and a celebratory reception were also held in Nakatsu City.

7th November, 2007 -- DAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD. (Daihatsu) announced that it has launched a new light commercial vehicle in Indonesia called the "Gran Max". (Daihatsu) announced today that it has, working with Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), developed a new fundamental fuel cell technology that completely eliminates the need for platinum, a precious metal that has been an essential material in the electrode catalyst in conventional fuel cells for automobiles. The new technology also fixes hydrazine hydrate inside the fuel tank to ensure its safe use as a fuel, resulting in no CO2 emissions at all.
