Michelin Becomes Official Tyre Supplier to A1GP World Cup of Motorsport

London, Great Britain, 21 July 2008 -- Michelin is to become the exclusive tyre partner to A1GP World Cup of Motorsport starting with the 2008/09 season. The French company which has a vast motorsport heritage has signed a three year deal to provide tyres for the new A1GP Powered by Ferrari car.

Michelin tyre technicians have been working hard with the A1GP technical personnel to provide the best possible rubber for the series. Since the Powered by Ferrari car had its first run in Fiorano in late May it has been using the company's tyres and has clocked up over 4,000 kilometres on tracks in Italy and Spain.

A1GP Car Covers Half a Season's Distance in Testing

London, Great Britain, 07 July 2008 -- A total of 3,500 kilometres, the equivalent of over half a season's mileage, is the distance covered to date by the new A1GP World Cup of Motorsport Powered by Ferrari car. The latest series of tests for the car were in Spain with five days at the Guadix Circuit near Granada followed by three days at Jerez.

Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva Backs Plans for A1GP in South America

London, Great Britain, June 27, 2008 -- A1GP World Cup of Motorsport has received influential backing for the series to hold its first race in South America. This came during a meeting in Brazil between A1GP ambassador, Emerson Fittipaldi, and Brazilian President, Luis Inacio Lula da Silva.

The Brazilian President pledged his support for A1 Team Brazil's quest to secure a home race after meeting with Fittipaldi, who is the team's seat holder. The meeting happened last week when Fittipaldi was racing in the Brazilian GT3 Championship with his brother, Wilson. The two influential Brazilians, along with the Brazilian Minister of Sport, Orlando Silva, discussed the team ahead of the new A1GP season, during which all the teams will use the new A1GP Powered by Ferrari cars.

A1 Team USA Races to Sensational Maiden A1GP Win as Championship Stays Alive

A1GP Shanghai, China 13 April 2008 -- A1 Team USA's Jonathan Summerton made history today when he took his and the team's first ever A1GP race win in this afternoon's Feature race at China's Shanghai International Circuit. Current title leader and pole-sitter Switzerland's Neel Jani lost second gear early on in the race and fifth gear towards the end so, despite a heroic drive, couldn't stay in touch with the American car and crossed the line fifth behind title rival New Zealand's Jonny Reid in fourth.

This afternoon's result keeps the thrilling 2007/08 championship alive and it will now be decided at the final round of the season at Brands Hatch, Great Britain on 4 May.

A1 Team Malaysia Aiming for Points in Shanghai

Shanghai, China, 09 April 2008 -- A1 Team Malaysia will be in China this week for the penultimate round of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport 2007/08 season at the Shanghai International Circuit. Alex Yoong will return with Team Malaysia to the circuit where he scored the first A1GP victory in China, taking victory in the Sprint Race during the first season of A1GP.

A1 Team Malaysia Looking for Strong Start in Mexico

Mexico City, 21 March 2007 -- A1 Team Malaysia will be racing in Mexico this weekend, with the ninth round of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport taking place in the capital city. The Series raced in the country last season, but this is the first event to be hosted at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City, named after Mexico's most famous motor racing brothers, Ricardo and Pedro Rodriguez.

The Malaysian team is joined by a new rookie driver, who will be making his race weekend debut for the team in Mexico and performing rookie duties for the remainder of the season. Aaron Lim, 22, drove the A1 Team Malaysia car in a test session at Silverstone in the UK last summer, but this will be his first experience of an A1GP event.

28 January 2008, Sydney, Australia - The A1GP World Cup of Motorsport 2007/08 title race is closer than ever as the thrilling nation versus nation series enters the second half of the season. Remaining in the Southern Hemisphere, the championship heads to Australia's Eastern Creek International Raceway near Sydney for round six on 1-3 February.

THINK Greener Racing: The series made history last time out in Taupo as all 22 national teams competing in the fifth round of the championship took to the track with biofuel in their tanks. The historic event marked A1GP as the first truly global motorsport series to race with biofuel in its tanks and is the cornerstone of an ambitious series of initiatives to help reduce its environmental footprint.

A1 Team France Tops Friday Practice in Taupo, New Zealand

18 January 2008, New Zealand - A1 Team France topped the time sheets in the second of today's two free practice sessions at Taupo as all 22 drivers took to the track with biofuel in their tanks, making history at round five of the 2007/08 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport season.

Despite not taking part in the rookie session this morning, 25-year-old French driver Loic Duval clocked the best lap of the day, completing the 3.5km circuit in 1m15.545s in glorious sunshine.

A1 Team Germany Wins as China Takes Home Race Podium

16 December 2007, Zhuhai, China - Pole sitter A1 Team Germany's Michael Ammermüller raced to his first A1GP victory in this morning's inaugural Zhuhai Sprint race at round four of the 2007/08 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport season while China's CongFu Cheng put in an incredible performance on home soil, taking a fantastic home race podium.

German rookie Ammermüller dominated the race from lights to flag, holding off Neel Jani to cross the line just over half a second ahead of title leader Switzerland who finished second. The packed grandstand roared when home nation China's CongFu Cheng made a sensational move past Ireland's Adam Carroll on lap 10 to grab third place. The 23-year-old from Beijing went on to take the first podium finish of his career and China's first of the season.

15 December 2007, Zhuhai, China - Defending champion A1 Team Germany qualified in pole position for tomorrow morning's Sprint race at the inaugural Huatai A1GP Zhuhai, China while the Feature race will be led off the grid by current championship leader Switzerland.

14 December 2007, Zhuhai, China - A1 Team Ireland took charge in the second of today's two free practice sessions at Zhuhai International Circuit as all 22 drivers experienced the Chinese circuit for the first time in an A1GP car, kicking off round four of the 2007/08 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport season.

Twenty-five-year-old Irish rookie Adam Carroll, who finished fifth fastest in the morning session when the top 12 nations were separated by less than one second, clocked a best lap of 1m23.279s around the 4.3km circuit this afternoon in warm and sunny weather conditions.
