Aided by the driving prowess of quattro all-wheel drive, the Audi Q7 quattro delivers unrestrained mobility to discerning buyers. But perhaps most striking is that despite the advanced new engines and an expanded standard feature deck, the Audi Q7 quattro starts at $1,200 less than last year.

The Design | An image of power

From first glance, the face of the 2011 Audi Q7 quattro is recognizable instantly as a symbol of power. A Singleframe® grille and optional Audi xenon plus headlights with adaptive light and high-power LED driving lights give the SUV a bold prow. Large inlets at the bottom of the front fascia channel air toward the intercoolers and hint at the performance potential of the SUV’s three available engines. New, lower body panels serve to differentiate the Audi Q7 quattro trims, with the 3.0T receiving contrasting paint, the TDI featuring body colored panels, and the 3.0T S line® sporting unique trim altogether.

A striking shoulder line defines the Audi Q7 quattro profile, with subtle bright work in key locations to draw the eye. Pronounced fender arches send a clear message of athleticism, while a long and elegant roofline gently slopes to the rear – creating a spacious interior. The design lends the Audi Q7 quattro an especially efficient shape. The SUV has a coefficient of drag between 0.35 and 0.37, depending on the suspension choice.

LED taillights dominate the rear of the Audi Q7 quattro. As stylish as they are functional, the lights command attention from drivers, and their near-instant illumination extends the margin of safety further. The sizeable power tailgate is designed to allow for easy loading and unloading of cargo, while two large exhaust ports in the fascia bolster the performance appearance of the Audi Q7 quattro.

The Interior | Luxury at a higher level

The interior of the Audi Q7 quattro has been upgraded substantially for 2011, with a number of once-optional luxury features now offered as standard. Crafted to deliver the utmost in comfort and functionality, the interior offers spacious seating and ample storage space. Every Audi Q7 quattro comes standard with hand-picked wood inlays and heated 12-way power front seats, and buyers may select S line packages to opt for a brushed aluminum finish and a new black headliner. Ventilated seats and a large panoramic sunroof are standard equipment on both the 3.0T S line and the TDI® Prestige. The buyer may choose from a number of uniquely colored leathers on interior surfaces, while chrome trim accents many of the control elements throughout the cabin, promoting the upscale ambiance of the Audi Q7 quattro.

The 2011 Audi Q7 TDI quattro Prestige now comes standard with a power tilt/telescoping steering column, and adaptive cruise control is an option. The Prestige will include the warm weather package, which adds four-zone climate control and window shades on the rear doors and tailgate. The package also includes a deep-tinted panoramic sunroof.

The Audi Q7 quattro accommodates up to seven passengers, with a third row in the aft of the SUV. The second and third rows can be folded flat without removing the headrests to create a cavernous cargo area – a full 72.5 cubic feet. The Audi Q7 quattro offers impressive flexibility, with up to 28 possible seating and cargo configurations, and the second-row seatbacks recline to provide passengers with a new level of seating comfort.

The Engines | Powerful efficiency

The 2011 Audi Q7 quattro is available with two all-new supercharged V6 engines, both of which are faster and more fuel efficient than their predecessors.

With its more clearly defined powerplant direction, the 2011 Audi Q7 quattro gives buyers the choices they need for ever more active lifestyles. Heading up the new lineup is a 3.0 TFSI® V6 engine producing 272 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque – a significant 29 lb-ft boost over the previous Q7. Despite the large increase in torque, the new Audi Q7 quattro will achieve 16/22 mpg (city/hwy), an improvement of 2 mpg in city driving and 3 mpg in highway driving. Buyers looking for even more performance can opt for the more powerful 333 hp supercharged 3.0 TFSI V6 found in the 2011 Audi Q7 quattro S line Prestige. This proven performer generates 325 lb-ft of torque, ensuring that no load is too heavy and catapulting the large SUV to 62 mph in just 6.9 seconds. Even with the added power, the new engine is some 16 percent more efficient than the 4.2-liter FSI® V8 that it replaces. In addition, the efficient new Audi Q7 quattro costs approximately $2,100 less than its predecessor.

The Audi Q7 quattro provides premium SUV buyers with a new level of environmental conscientiousness with its efficient 3.0 TDI clean diesel engine. Using a combination of direct-injection and turbocharging, the 3.0-liter diesel engine delivers 225 hp and a remarkable 406 lb-ft of torque. Yet as impressive as the power figures are, the truly amazing aspect of the Q7 3.0 TDI quattro clean diesel is its fuel economy. The Q7 3.0 TDI clean diesel delivers 17/25 mpg (city/hwy) and is the only clean diesel in its segment with an eight-speed transmission.

Tiptronic Transmission | Strong and precise

Matched with each of the engines available in the Audi Q7 quattro is an all-new state-of-the-art eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. It offers motorists the perfect compromise between a legitimate manual and an automatic gearbox, with eight carefully chosen ratios that can be credited for five percent of the increased fuel efficiency of the new Audi Q7 quattro. The driver may choose gears via the console-mounted shifter or optional paddle shifters located behind the sculpted steering wheel. Shifts are quick and precise without sacrificing the smooth action of the Tiptronic automatic. A wide final drive ratio of 7.25:1 allows the lower gears to be optimized for instant, powerful acceleration, while the gears in the upper range have an emphasis on fuel economy – particularly at highway speeds.

Safety | Excellent protection

Audi knows that protection starts during the earliest part of the design process. The Audi Q7 quattro was built with a rigid body structure, designed to channel crash energy away from the cabin. Furthermore, the advanced independent suspension beneath the SUV provides a planted platform, capable of quick-reaction emergency maneuvers that belie the size of the Q7. In the event of an accident, the Audi Q7 quattro comes prepared with a gamut of safety equipment, including seatbelts that work in coordination with supplemental restraints to reduce the likelihood of post-accident injury.

The Audi Q7 quattro protects occupants with a number of standard airbags, including front and side units in the front row. Side airbags also are available for the second row. Standard on all models, Sideguard® side-curtain airbags protect all rows in the event of a collision.

Available adaptive cruise control in the Audi Q7 maintains the distance from vehicles ahead automatically with the aid of a radar sensor and by braking or accelerating. Various distance values can be input via the MMI®.
