Lincoln's full-size luxury sedan

The 2005 model Town Car is Lincoln's full-size luxury sedan with a tradition of a smooth ride and superb comfort. SIRIUS satellite radio is available as a dealer-installed option on vehicles equipped with the touch-screen navigation system and six-disc in-dash CD changer.

The Town Car has long been Lincoln's flagship sedan - it is the brand's highest volume model, and it boasts extremely high customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Three trim series are available for retail customers and three additional series are available for the limousine and livery business.

All Lincoln vehicles come with complimentary maintenance at no additional charge for 12 months/12,000 miles.

Town Car is built in Wixom, Mich.

Design and Equipment

The Town Car's exterior design has a formal appearance with a chromed Lincoln signature grille flanked by quad-beam halogen headlamps. High-intensity-discharge headlamps are optional on Signature Limited and Signature L models.

A stand-up Lincoln star hood ornament sits at the leading edge of the hood on all models. At the rear of the car, the fascia, taillamps and the chrome license plate surround present a clean, uncluttered appearance.

All Town Car models are fitted with standard 17- by 7-inch euro-flange aluminum wheels. Euro-flange wheels have a distinctively clean appearance, because the wheel-balancing weights are mounted out of sight on the inside rim. Fourteen-spoke painted aluminum wheels are standard, with optional nine-spoke chrome-finished wheels available on Signature Limited and Signature L models.

Two extended-wheelbase models continue, the Executive L (fleet only) and Signature L. In addition to their 6 inch stretch in wheelbase, L models offer rear-seat amenities including a folding armrest with tissue and storage bins, as well as dual power points and remote audio, climate and right front passenger seat controls. The Signature L model includes heated rear seats.

Light Ice Blue Clearcoat Metallic, Charcoal Beige Clearcoat Metallic and Norsea Blue Clearcoat Metallic are new colors added for 2005.

Powertrain

A 239-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8 is standard on Town Car. The engine is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.

Town Car puts power to the ground through its rear wheels via a 3.27:1 final drive ratio. All-speed traction control is standard and helps improve traction during inclement weather.

Safety

The Lincoln Town Car was the first car in history to receive 5-star government safety ratings in all five categories - and has done so two years in a row. The 2005 Town Car is equipped with Ford's Personal Safety SystemTM, which is one of the most comprehensive driver and front-seat passenger restraint systems available. It includes dual-stage air bags and safety belts with retractor pretensioners and energy management retractors.

The Occupant Classification Sensing (OCS) system builds on the strength of the Personal Safety System to tailor deployment of the front passenger air bag. The system determines whether there is someone big, someone small or no one at all in the front-passenger's seat. Then it activates or deactivates the air bag accordingly to provide the most appropriate level of protection.

As always, the safest place for children is in the rear seat, properly restrained.

Town Car continues to feature BeltMinderTM, which chimes to remind the driver to buckle up. The standard extended rear park assist feature helps with parking maneuvers.
